As planned, October was filled with horror from all media: movies, books, tv shows, even a two podcast episodes. I was a guest on the LAMBcast for their Watcha Been Wacthin' Lately Horror Special, where I talked about the scary and poetic south korean film A Tale of Two Sisters (2003). The Across the Universe Podcast has a new episode out too, a Halloween special with guest Jessica Manzo where we discuss three cult horror movies: The Evil Dead (1981), Videodrome (1983), and Suspiria (1977).
So I watched all these films in October plus a new all-time favourite, Let The Right One In (2008). I also rewatched the british zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead (2003) because frankly, I needed a good night's sleep.
Keeping up with haunted houses and demonic possession (the best kind of horror), I began reading Richard Matheson's Hell House, which I am currently reading. I'm going to try and finish The Shining next.
Conversely, a new horror show has just begun: The Exorcist. For weeks I wasn't sure about this one, but then I just sat down, binged the first five episodes, and yeah, it's pretty awesome. Again, for anyone who likes demonic possessions and exorcisms with a side of hot priest (uncomfortable, confusing feelings for even a non-believing catholic here), this is a good one. Oh, and it has nuns doing exorcisms, too.
So that was my month in horror! How were your October nightmares?
